| Southside T-Summit 2017 Saturday, October 21st (10:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.) 555 E. 51st St. Dyett High School for the Arts Chicago, IL 60615 We're looking forward to the upcoming Teen Summit at Dyett High School for the Arts! Teens across Chicago are invited to come to this exciting program, and Borderbend leads an urban nature-inspired arts workshop during the summit (2:20-3:20 p.m.). Here's the registration link. Urban Nature-Inspired Arts "Urban Nature-Inspire Arts" starts with a roundtable conversation about how urban nature found in the Chicago metropolitan area can be used to help young people to 1) express themselves creatively; 2) make meaningful connections between who we are, within the context of urban ecosystems and other urban dynamics; and 3) explore environmental justice through different art forms. Then participants are led in workshop activities wherein they write urban nature-inspired poetry and create mixed media artworks inspired by urban nature. This is a multi-arts program wherein youth learn more about themselves, how to creatively and meaningfully find out more about Chicago, learn leadership skills, and plan for their futures. The curriculum includes reading literary works; writing poetry, nonfiction, and pieces in hybrid forms; making visual artworks; and creating music. |
