Thanks for everyone who came to yesterday's Arts & Nature, Calumet Region & Nationwide event at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore! We had a lot of fun, and we had a great turnout. We met at the Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education, and activities happened inside the center and outside in the woods and at the Indiana Dunes. The program kicked off at 11 a.m. -- with a woodcut and linoleum print workshop led by Corey Hagelberg, and leaf poem creating and nature-themed short stories writing workshop facilitated by Dan Godston. MaryAm Ghadiri and Ben Gottesman led a soundwalk through the woods and into the dunes, and soon thereafter Samuel Love led a photography walk around the Douglas Center. Thanks to everyone who came out; the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and its staff for partnering with us and for helping to make the event possible; our other partnering organizations -- including the Calumet Artist Residency, Center for Global Soundscape Studies at Purdue University, and Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology; and the teaching artists who facilitated the activities. | Click on the link below to download the Arts & Nature, Calumet Region & Beyond program --
There's still a month and a half left in 2016 -- plenty more time to celebrate the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore's 50th Anniversity and the National Park Service's Centennial. Of course 2017 provides so many more opportunities to celebrate IDNL & NPS, so get outside and enjoy nature! |
