| Borderbend has presented and co-presented several events over the past six years which focus on connections with Haiti. During the Third Annual Chicago Calling Arts Festival we presented a an event at the Little Black Pearl Art & Design Academy during an ensemble led by Maksaens Denis performed with Douglas R. Ewart, Ann Ward and Eric Glick Rieman. Denis' ensemble of dancers and percussionists were in Jacmel, Haiti; that collaboration happened via Skype. Also earlier this year a "Chicago Heroes & Arts Journeys" session at Mozart Park focused on Jean Baptiste Point du Sable and Katherine Dunham. | In October Borderbend, Crossing Borders Music, and the Haitian American Museum of Chicago are partnering on a pioneering collaborative to co-present Diaspora Voices: Music by Haitian American Composers.
